My Sunday Photo 17:31. Best Moments of 2017 #1

Disney Fun!

Over the next last few Sundays of 2017 I am going to be using the #mysundayphoto posts to have a look back over our last year as a family.

We’ve had quite a stressful year and it is nice to be able to look back on the fun times we’ve had and the exciting events that have taken place in that time, such as the birth of our third son, George.

Starting us off is a trip to Disneyland

Back in the Summer we were lucky enough to get to go to Disneyland Paris for a few days with the rest of our family. In fact I posted a #mysundayphoto of our time there.

The above photo was taken in the Inventions Restaurant that is located within the Disneyland Hotel. We booked a character meal for the boys as we weren’t too sure how they would react seeing them within the crowded environment of the park, we needn’t have worried on that front.

The meal was a fantastic idea and time though as the boys really got to interact with five different characters from the Disney family. As you can see in the above photo of Oliver Mickey Mouse was one of those characters, along with Pluto, Donald Duck, Tigger and Eyore.

We would thoroughly recommend a character meal if you can stretch your budget, because although on the expensive side it was fully worth the money we paid.

My Sunday Photo 17:24. Dinosaurs!

As this is the last weekend of our summer holidays we decided to have one last outing as a family before the onslaught of autumn and then winter and everything that entails for us including a new baby and an operation for Leo.

We decided to take a trip to the Natural History Museum in London for the Dinosaurs.

Recently both boys have shown an interest in these majestic beasts and we thought they would love it and for the most part they did, however the beast in the picture above scared them both half to death.

They had a great time and we will be taking them again when they are a little older and apart from traffic it was a lovely way to end the summer holidays.

Word of The Week Wednesday #2: Summer!

This weeks word of the week in our household is most definitely without a doubt Summer. Whether that be in the context of Summer holiday, Summer days or Summer School it is certainly getting more then its fair share of air time in our house.

Now I am fully aware that we are well into that time of year and that Summer will get mentioned a lot especially when we have two children breaking up for their summer holidays but it does seem to be mentioned a lot more then it should be.

Oliver recently finished at his pre-prep school and therefore has ten weeks for a summer holiday before he starts in reception at his new school and also Keighley has also finished work until September, so they have nice long summer holidays and that’s probably one of the reasons why I’ve had enough of the word summer, but that is hardly their fault .

I think the main reason why I am so fed up of the word summer is because I really am not a summer person, I am a winter person. Don’t get me wrong I love being able to walk along the seafront on those long summer evenings and also the fact that everything is in bloom and colourful, its just that I prefer the winter and everything that entails. the chance of snow and also the dreaded C word that everyone hates, but I love it always have a always will.

So Summer is the word of the week in our house, what’s yours?

Summer Club.

Oliver finished his last day of pre-prep last Friday, but his time with them isn’t finished just yet.

Every major holiday they run a club with fun themed days for the kids and this holiday is no different. Oliver attended a session just before Christmas just after we had decided to send him to the school to see how he would get on with his then new teacher. So when we got the letter that they were running sessions for the first two weeks of this summer break we asked him if he wanted to go to any of the sessions, now I expected him to say no. However he jumped at the chance, he is attending two different sessions one of which we chose as it fits into our holiday for this summer and the other he chose.

The session he chose is running next Monday and he can’t wait, he chose a session entitled Totally Bubbles, now we can all imagine what that will include and I can’t blame him for being excited, I’m excited for him.

The session we chose he attended yesterday and this session was entitled All About Disney. We have recently being going a bit Disney mad in our house as our summer holiday this year is to Disneyland Paris, the boys don’t have a clue yet but Keighley and I are starting to get excited.

When I went to pick Oliver up this afternoon his teacher, who runs the sessions, said that he had been beaming from ear to ear all day and that he has had an immense amount of fun. He had been playing with kids from his class and other classes all morning and had also partaken in two craft activities one of which was making a magic mirror and the other was a Minion face, now I know that Minions aren’t Disney but who cares he had a lot of fun. The thing he was most excited about was having his face painted as it was a first for him.

I am so glad decided to send him to these sessions as his excitement is worth it.

My Sunday Photo 17:18; Turtles!

Taking advantage of the brilliant summer weather I recently took the boys to a lovely local park in Southend that we haven’t been to before. The irony is we drive past it daily on the school/work run.

The boys loved the huge pond that was in the park. There were numerous ducks and ducklings and then to our surprise we discovered that there were also turtles in the pond. Oliver and Leo were amazed to see them and then watch them swimming about.

It was a wonderful day out.

Back from a Break.

Our last post was way back in June and since then all we’ve really done is post pictures to our Twitter and Instragram accounts.

There is no reason for this beyond the want to spend more time with the family and enjoy summer, and it was a nice summer as for us as well.

So what have we been doing in the 2 Bottles of Milk household this summer.

Well a lot actually. Here we are going to give you a brief overview some of which will follow in bigger blog posts others will stay as that just an overview.

In July we were lucky enough to go to Legoland thanks to the coupons in a well known National Newspaper and we had a wonderful time.

Although Oliver and Leo were too young for a few of the rides there were more then enough to keep them amused all day and too be honest we could have had another day there and not got bored.

One of the things we have wanted to do for a while is erect a wall between our kitchen and living room. As anyone with young children knows the last place you want them when cooking is in the kitchen under your feet.

Well we finally got around to actually doing it this summer and the transformation it has made to the room is amazing. Although not painted yet it’s amazing how different the room looks as a result.

American Speedfest @Brands Hatch

This was an amazing day out that both the boys loved. Oliver has need mad on Disney Cars and cars in general for as long as I can remember now and this was the perfect day out for him.

The boys got to meet Mater, Finn McMissile and Lightning McQueen along with a host of other cars that were present and also watch some NASCAR Racing that is held at Brands Hatch every year.

We’ve also had great days out at Hadleigh Castle, The Beach and Greenwich Park in London.

Personally I’ve been busy with work (two weeks in Cambridge was not fun) and also marking 50 years since Star Trek first debuted by going to see the new movie Star Trek Beyond and looking forward to Destination Star Trek in October and Star Trek Discovery (coming next year to Netflix).

As we look forward to the end of the year and the many things we have to look forward to and the things that come around year after year. We will be blogging as much as we can and we will also be doing our, now annual, ‘Have Yourself a Thrifty Little Christmas’ from the 7th November onwards.
